All over this world....

When we were preparing for the event at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin Germany, people asked if there would be a song written specially for the occasion. I have never been one who can write to order, so it was not on my list of things to do. However, on the Monday before the event, I was at home with Tricia and our good friend Wayne Drain from Arkansas, when inspiration struck. One of those "right brain burst" moments. Together, the three of us worked on the melody and lyrics and wrote "All Over This World"; the refrain of which was sung in several languages at the end of the event. We had people attending from more than 40 nations and the intention with the song, was to send everyone home with this prayer ringing in their ears. To see the Kingdom of God lived out on a daily basis. To make the love of Jesus known to those in our villages, towns and cities. It is one thing to gather in a stadium and have a wonderful day of prayer and worship. But it is far more important to express our worship, in our communities, through daily acts of love and care.

As once again we wake up to the news of yet another attack on ordinary people going about their everyday lives, it is right to feel saddened by the tragic event. But let's not forget that the power of Christ and His love dwells within us. These are days when the fruit of the Spirit can be demonstrated to others: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

The final verse of this song says:
All over this world where darkness reigns
Your people will go, your love proclaim

Let's continue to be the ones who bring the love, hope and compassion of Christ, to our communities.
