Coventry Cathedral Event

Last Sunday 15th May - Pentecost Sunday - saw huge gatherings in six major cathedrals across the UK - Canterbury, Durham, Exeter, Winchester, York and  Coventry. We were invited to lead the sung worship at Coventry Cathedral.

1,200 people gathered in the Cathedral for the ‘Your Kingdom Come’ celebration. The evening began with a video message from the Archbishop of Canterbury, who ended his message by leading everyone in praying the Lord’s Prayer. The service went on to reflect on what the Lord’s Prayer means for us today with the help of ourselves leading the singing and with prayer guided by Ian Nicholson from 24/7 Prayer. Bishop Christopher baptised a number of candidates, some of them by full immersion. He was then joined by Bishop John, Bishop David and Bishop Jonathan for the confirmation of nearly 50 candidates. Perhaps the best way of summing up what was a truly unforgettable evening is to quote the final blessing:

May the light of the glorious gospel of Christ
shine in your hearts and transform your lives,
that you may bring his light to others;
and the blessing of God almighty,
the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
be among you and remain with you always.
Amen.
