We'll be the dreamers of Your dreams
Continuing this week's theme of dreams, this song seems appropriate. I wrote it with Ken Riley (yfriday) back in 2001.
Many times I have been asked what this song is saying, as there are different nuances in the lyrics. For me, the overriding message is that in the same way we have dreams for our children, so the Father has dreams for us.
My experience is that He often whispers those dreams into our hearts – sometimes when we least expect it. That's how the dream of filling Wembley Stadium with worship happened for me.
This particular version of the song was recorded with my band as we worked toward another stadium event at the Olympic Stadium, Berlin, Germany.
It speaks of fathers and children standing together. The older and younger generations can complement each other. Those of us who are older, can encourage those who are younger, to dream. Our ceiling becomes the floor for the next generation. They build on what we have accomplished. They will often achieve more than the previous generation. One young singer that I have worked with in Hungary, called me a grandfather of worship last year. I took that as a great compliment.
In fact, she was sharing the stage with me, when we performed at Budapest Arena in 2019 - she was only 6 years old when she came to our first Budapest event. Now Helena is an artist in her own right!
