Song of the Week - Your Words Are Life

We live in a world where we are constantly bombarded with incredible amounts of information. Rolling news programmes are mainly filled with stories of disaster, death and catastrophe. Good news rarely sells!

When this current pandemic began, it seemed to me that it was 'manna from heaven' for the news outlets. Brexit, famine, wars, climate change and everything else was pushed aside for this 'new kid on the block' that has caused global panic.

As the year has progressed, I have grown tired of the news; fatigued by the daily round of depressing facts and figures, criticism of governments and politicians and the forecasts of doom and gloom.

During 2007, I spent some time writing with Tim Sherrington, a songwriter based in Aldershot, UK. This particular song came about when we were writing in November of that year.

I want to share this as my “Song of the Week” to remind myself and encourage others to continually focus on God's words and perspectives.

In a world of fake news and misinformation, God's word can be trusted.

Psalm 119 v 105: Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.

Matt 4 v 4: Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ “

John 6 v 68: Simon Peter answered Him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have words of eternal life.

YOUR WORDS ARE LIFE
FEEDING MY SOUL
WORTH MORE TO ME
THAN SILVER OR GOLD
GUARDING ME
FROM GOING ASTRAY
GUIDING ME
LIGHTING MY WAY

LEAD ME ON
IN THE PATH THAT'S EVERLASTING
LEAD ME ON
I WILL DO WHAT YOU ARE ASKING
LEAD ME ON
THROUGH THE JOYS AND THROUGH THE SORROWS
LEAD ME ON
IN YOUR FOOTSTEPS I WILL FOLLOW

HELP ME HEAR THE WORDS THAT YOU SPEAK
BE TO ME THE WISDOM I SEEK
